How is the Tech 21 reverb compared to the Pathfinder? (I've seen reports that the reverb on the PF is not that great. Can you get a decent crunch at low volume, maybe even without the 'boost' on? How bad is the boost on the Pathfinder? What is it that people don't like about it? Does it sound "metally"? I don't play metal but I generally play with some distortion so I'd like it to at least be decent. ![]() Has anyone played through both and can give a comparison? I've seen a couple of posts saying that the Vox has better (great) cleans but the distortion isn't too great, and the TM-10/30 have better high-gain but thin cleans, but that's about it. I've been reading up on these little amps and they both get very good reviews from owners, but I haven't seen many comparisons between them. (I realize that the TM-10 is no longer made but it can be found used.) The 1990 Fender M-80 I have now needs to be repaired and it's always been WAY more powerful than I need anyway. Looking for an amp for my apt and I think I've narrowed it down to these two. It'll make posting threads here a lot easier.Hi. My advice to you is to familiarize yourself with amps and amp terminology before asking a question. Could be wrong about that, and that's OK. Now, I don't know that for sure, but I'm guessing it's because the Power Engine is simply amplifying whatever signal is going into it, at 60 watts, regardless of the wattage of the signal source. It has built in tremolo and spring reverb as well as a top boost gain channel. I imagine that if you plug a Vox Pathfinder into it (assuming you can to begin with), you're probably only gonna get 60 watts of power, not 75. 320 76K views 12 years ago The VOX Pathfinder 15r is an amazing solid state amp. I don't know enough about it to answer your question but I'll try anyway. Loud enough to play in a band with.Īs for the Tech 21 Power Engine 60, I've heard of it, and I was even curious about it myself. ![]() If so, and if you're specifically talking about a Vox Pathfinder 15R, then I can tell you, from personal experience, that if you plug it into a 4X12 cab (that's a box, with four 12 inch speakers, usually arranged in a square formation and NO TUBES), it'll get plenty loud. I assume you're talking about making your amp louder. There's no way to "give" an amplifier more wattage. And yes, you will need to change the tube in a Vox Valvetronix eventually if the tube fails, or if you're just curious about how Tube A sounds as compared to Tube B. 212 east tn 3 if you are referring to a pathfinder r15 I believe the discontinued now if you want an AC 15r new around 500 or under. It is a combo amp, in other words, it has both the amp and the speaker in one convenient package. A "cab" is nothing more than a speaker cabinet. It got to a point where I thought you were joking with this thread, but after the PM you sent me, I realize that I am clearly mistaken, so I will try to answer your thread seriously now, to the best of my knowledge, 'cause I'll concede that I don't always know what I'm talking about either, and thats OK. Barred chords at the higher frets sound pretty good. These setting sound pretty good over all, but when I play a D or Dm it sounds a little thin. ![]() Off school already? Aren't you at a daycare right now? Is this correct) Boost off, Treble at 12 oclock, bass all the way up, Tremolo speed 10 oclock, tremolo depth 8 oclock, and reverb off.
